Making art is one of the primary ways I like to live my creative life. With a background as a calligrapher, much of my work incorporates letters (I love letters!), but not all of it. Part of the fun of being an artist is exploring and experimenting. Making a mess, and seeing what comes out of it!

I call this playing in the Creative Sandbox. It’s where I prefer to spend most of my time.

I work play in a variety of media, and a variety of forms. Much of my work emerges from the desire to inspire myself. I hope it will inspire you too!

Irresistible Woman & Irresistible Yogini Fine Art Prints

In the spring of 2010, right around the time I started Living A Creative Life, I was spent 5 blessed days at a wonderful retreat with my calligraphy guild. For years this retreat was the only time during the year that I would actually make art that wasn’t commissioned by a client – art to feed my own soul. That spring I was in the middle of an identity overhaul, trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to be doing with my life.

On the last day, while in the shower (no lie!) this phrase popped into my head: “A woman in love with her life is absolutely irresistible.”

I’d spent the entire retreat writing and walking, not making art at all, but as soon as I got dressed after my shower I dashed down to the scriptorium and spent the final hours of the retreat creating the first piece in this gallery. I called her my “irresistible woman,” and she spawned a whole line of other empowered women and yoginis, all designed to inspire me along my path, and to inspire other women along theirs.

A is for Alphabet – Illuminated Letters Collection

While at my spring calligraphy retreat in 2009, in a mad rush of creative energy I designed and painted an entire alphabet of watercolor illuminated letters. Although this gallery only shows a subset of the letters right now, all letters of the alphabet are available, in any of the colorways you see here, and custom colors are also available for an additional charge. Click any letter for more info, and until the rest of the alphabet is up here, just contact me if you’d like another letter.

I offer the option of including the name of your favorite person – “A is for Alex” – below the letter for a custom touch. Click any letter to see an example.
