A lot of us who do creative stuff spend much of our creative-stuff-doing time in isolation. Sometimes this is kinda nice. Those of us who are introverts thrive on lots of alone time — I sure do!
But all of us need to connect. Connection is a human need, and seekers after the creative life don’t always get enough opportunities to connect with other people like us.
Friends and family can be well-intentioned, but if they don’t also have that creative urge, they may not “get” us.
And if you work in any kind of “left brain” environment, it’s easy to feel lonely, or just out of place.
Face it, “Society at Large” gives out a lot of mixed messages about creativity! We idolize our superstars, but when it comes to regular folks who just want to get our creative groove on?
Not everyone in our lives knows what to do with us!
Whenever I’ve run one of my Creative Ignition Circles, or any group for creatives, I’ve heard over and over again from participants that their biggest takeaway was the sense of connection with other people who got them, of realizing that they’re not alone.
Wouldn’t be awesome to have a regular place to go to feel that?
I have a my big vision of a community for creatives, where people with all kinds of different creative passions can come together to share, inspire and learn from each other, and just hang out.

Here’s a little history:
In 2011 I hosted telephone chats once a month. Starting in January 2012, I made those chats once a quarter while I worked on other stuff.
But I missed the chats!
So I decided to bring them back, but sorta turbo-charged. My live-video-streaming Hangouts are the experimental result!
Each Hangout will be different, of course, depending on who shows up, but expect a little live music, some art-shares (shoot me an email before any given Hangout if you’d like to do a 5 to 10-minute “show-and-tell”), special guests and other surprises.
You can participate via text chat and/or audio and/or video (you’ll just need a microphone for audio; a microphone and webcam for video). And I’ll post the recordings on a special Hangout Archives page for you to watch later, if you’re unable to make it live.
