ENDORSEMENTS

“It's one part field guide, one part creative practice—and I loved it. The Creative Sandbox Way is an adventure packaged as a book.”

-CHRIS GUILLEBEAU, NYT best-selling author of The Happiness of Pursuit and The $100 Startup

“If you think you're not talented enough, witty enough, or practiced enough to play in the creative arena, think again. At Melissa's Dinwiddie's playground everyone is welcome to test things out and get messy. The Creative Sandbox Way offers a joy-filled path for all of us to recover what she calls a truly life-changing practice: our creativity.”

-JEFFREY DAVIS, author of The Journey from the Center to the Page and Coat Thief

“You will love her spirit and her many useful suggestions!”

-JENNIFER LOUDEN, author of The Woman’s Comfort Book and The Life Organizer, founder of The Oasis

“This is a path more of us desire and need to follow. It’s time. And Melissa is the right guide.”

-PATTI DIGH, best-selling author of Life is a Verb, Creative is a Verb, and 6 other books

The Creative Sandbox Way belongs on the bookshelf next to Annie Lamott’s Bird by Bird. I love it that this book is so encouraging; even in your darkest moody places, you will not be able to escape the encouragement. My favorite guidepost: “Just start anywhere.” My favorite quote: “The path of imperfection is the path of joy.” All through the book I found “keepers” to help me on my creative path. And I love Dinwiddie’s drawings. Buy three copies: one for the bedside, one for your desk, one for the bathroom.”

-DAVID ROCHE, inspirational humorist and author of The Church of 80% Sincerity

“Melissa gently and enthusiastically guides you along your creative path, no matter what your particular path is. You can't help but get pulled in to play in this sandbox.”

-DAVID BLATNER, author and co-publisher, CreativePro.com

“Engage with Melissa in her Creative Sandbox and allow her to whimsically reconnect you to the creativity present to children. Have fun, be surprised, and PLAY!”

-MARY ANNE RADMACHER, author of “Courage Doesn’t Always Roar”

5,0 su 5 stelle This book is a great big cuddle for your creative spirit

Melissa's book is a warm, humorous guide to building a creative practice and unleashing your creativity. It gently yet firmly leads you through 10 "rules" that help you remove the barriers and rediscover your innate playful, creative nature. Beautifully put together, with oodles of space for your thoughts, experiments and reflections, as well as loads of doodles to play with as you wish, this really is a collaborative, interactive book. There is plenty here to go back to again and again, as this is about a practice and a continual learning process. The lessons shared, and which you are encouraged to discover for yourself, apply not only to your creativity, but to many wider aspects of life.

This book ENCOURAGES you to make lots of crap! “You need the crap to fertilize the good stuff!” Melissa shares. She has a Facebook group where we share our “ugly” drawings or coloring in the many Doodles she includes throughout the book! Step by small step she brings your Creativity BACK TO LIFE again!

She has inspiring quotes throughout the book: “We need to give ourselves the space and freedom to make ugly messes, because the pressure to only produce amazing work is paralyzing…Just because you allow yourself to create crap doesn’t mean you will…. It just means you’ll create. Other people see your work for what it is. You see your work for what it isn’t. “

I have found in my life that CREATIVITY is as important as love, happiness and joy. We were born to be creative, period. We are creating all the time with our thoughts and actions every day, except we rarely take time to RELAX and just PLAY, even for just 5 minutes a day!! This book can Literally Transform your life! Doing these simple things can Affect all the other areas of your life. In a couple of weeks you can have more energy, you smile more often, you keep some colored pens or pencils out to just color in a flower during a stressful moment and answers arise while you are focused on coloring! It can bring new Life to your life!

There are many Simple Things which can have a huge impact on our lives when we incorporate them into our daily life. In actuality they don’t take a lot of time. Doing things we enjoy and having fun doing, actually improve our brain function and have been proven to extend our lives! We just need to Make Time for them and this is one of those things!! I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for the Missing Link in their life! Just adding 5 minutes here and there might bring you through your challenges of daily life and onto the other more joyful side!

5,0 su 5 stelle What Would Happen If...?
Recensito negli Stati Uniti il 9 gennaio 2024
I bought this book because "trying to get things perfect" was stopping the making of any art. And I love making, but truly was stuck and tired of it. I met Melissa at a conference one year and her personality was, and still is, infectious. When I heard she wrote The Creative Sandbox Way, I had to purchase it. I am so glad I did! Reading this book and doing the prompts included, one feels like she is right there beside you helping you get unstuck. And, PS, this is the first book I have ever colored in and it's not a coloring book. Thank you, Melissa. You thoughtfully written book has changed me as an artist.
