My mom just forwarded this photo from a cousin who discovered a Dinwiddie Street in Arlington, VA.
For anyone from the East Coast, this should not be too surprising, given that Virginia is also home to a Dinwiddie County. Governor Dinwiddie (installed by King George, back before the Revolution) was mentioned in my 11th grade history textbook, for goodness sake!
For us California Dinwiddies, however, any public instance of our name is ridiculously exciting. It doesn’t happen much on the left coast.
(In case you’re wondering, Dinwiddie St. is off Washington (as you can see in the picture) going north-ish from the Lee Hwy/Spout Run area about four miles west of the GW Parkway.)
