Day 3 of 5 at my 5th annual Create & Incubate Retreat–sketching out a “Pyramid of Hope,” inspired by @dianebleck ‘s course, Spirit of Doodles, inside The Doodle Institute, as I vision for my new creative consultancy, Creative Sandbox Solutions.
What an amazing luxury, to get five days to immerse myself in working on my vision and mission, using art!
Other retreaters are painting, sewing, editing an audiobook, writing a play, doing mixed media… Oh, and napping, walking around the pond, reading, listening to music… The time is yours to spend as you wish at Create & Incubate Retreat. Heavenly!

What does it mean to be an artist instead of a “non-artist”? It means to follow your curiosity in spite of your fears and doubts.
It means to ask, “What would happen if..?” and pick up your pen and see.
Because YOU want to find out.
Because it’s not about whether anyone else likes the outcome.
Or is impressed by the outcome.
Or pays you money for the outcome.
Or gives you an award for the outcome.
In fact, it’s not ABOUT the outcome at all!
It’s about the PROCESS, and how it FEELS, what you LEARN from the experience.

LCN 126: Insomnia, Kryptonite, Retreat!
I woke up at 5:00 am three days in a row this week. Which would be great if I’d gone to sleep at 9:30, but I didn’t.
I was obsessing on my iPad till midnight.
I don’t know about you, but five hours, even six hours of sleep is not enough for me.
I’ve been staying up late, even though I know it’s going to bite me in the butt the next day. And then I’ve been popping awake really early and my spinny, thinky brain won’t stop spinning and thinking, and I can’t get back to sleep.
I’m in an insomnia fugue.
