This went in a direction I never expected! But that’s the joy of #improvisation, of course. ? It’s all about discovery and following curiosity.

Detail shot of #blackandwhite #workinprogress. I don’t know where these shapes come from, but they continue to delight me!

20 minutes of doodling and I’m charged up for the day.
One of my #creativesandbox101 participants is doing a drawing a day and calling it #MorningsWithMelissa, which delights me to no end! ?
The goal? Just DO something. For the joy of it–not to impress anyone, but because it feeds you.
It has taken me decades to take the reins back from my Perfectionist Gremlin and my Critic Gremlin, so I can play again. WOW, what a difference it makes when you allow yourself to make crap!
Allowing yourself to create crap doesn’t mean you *will*, but it does mean you’ll create! And THAT makes all the difference!

LCN 041: MELISSA LIVE! The Creative Sandbox Manifesto
Back in November, I produced a house concert to benefit the Jazz Camp West scholarship fund, and as part of the concert, I tried out a 30-minute section that I’ve been developing into a keynote about my Creative Sandbox Manifesto — my foundational concepts for living a full-color creative life (which I talk more about in episode 005).
I thought it would be fun to share it on the podcast, so listen for a music-infused explanation of my ten Creative Sandbox Manifesto precepts, the origin story of my Creative Sandbox metaphor, and lots of imperfect ukulele playing.
