Calligraphy Art:
Breathe Flow Create Grow
Media:
Walnut ink, watercolor, watercolor ground, Ziller ink, brush, pointed pen on paper
Dimensions:
4 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
Creation Notes:
I’ve got more paper in my flat files than I know what to do with. My Creative Sandbox practices gives me a reason to finally use it. This piece started as a full sheet of watercolor paper that I’d painted god knows when with a pale teal wash, probably for some collage project or other.
It took several layers — walnut ink, Ziller ink, watercolor ground (similar to white gesso, but you can paint on it with watercolors), and more walnut and Ziller ink — before some areas I liked started to emerge. Until then, I wondered if the entire sheet was bound for the recycle bin!
Sometimes creating is like that. Which is why it’s important to keep breathing, allow flow to happen. It’s through this creative process that real growth occurs.
