First, let me tell you a bit more about Life Book in case you haven’t heard about it yet.
About Life Book
“Life Book, a celebration and honouring of YOU” is a year-long mixed-media art class, organized by Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts.
Tam is joined by 22 incredible art teachers, who are all gearing up to share their mixed-media techniques, tips and tricks with YOU! Themed around self-development and healing, you’ll be creating several loose mixed-media art journal pages per month, which by the end of the year you will bind into a glorious journal (a Life Book)! You will have a wonderful keepsake that you can treasure for the rest of your life.

I haven’t fully developed my class idea yet, but I’m excited to be sharing some of my Creative Sandbox “intentional imperfectionism” approach to working with mixed-media with you, much like you can see in these paintings:

Hi Melissa. After almost 2 years doing Life Book I am afraid that next year I won’t be able to take part as I am in a financial mess. I have to care for my 86 year-old mother which means I can’t work or earn any money at all (Spain does not pay for family members caring for their own). So if I could win, it would make next year a happy time and bring me so much joy. I love all the lessons, the variety, the awesome teachers, every lesson gives me new ideas and teaches me new techniques to use in my art, as well as often helping me deal with my own shortcomings and problems with life. I was in Life Book a.few years ago and it changed my life! Because of this course, I decided to go to art school. I would love to experience it again with this new teacher lineup! I’ve been a fan/follower/subscriber of yours for awhile now!

I’m 58 (yikes) and have been doing artwork off and on for many years but never really found my niche. I’m new to Mixed Media and love it! Congrats on your LB17 instructor-ing! 🙂 To be honest, if it’s doable, I would love to win a spot in the course so that I could gift it to my friend Kristi. She’s at a point in her life where “something’s gotta give”. I’ve been a part of your Creative Sandbox for almost a year, I think, and have sang its praises and even offered to pay for her to do CS101. I gave her a copy of our collaborative coloring book a week or so ago; she’s about 6 colored pages into it and told me that she’s actually now sleeping through the night again. I would love to be a part of LB 2017! I want to grow more as an artist but also as a person. I live with chronic pain and I can honestly say that art has saved my life, and keeps on saving me. It’s almost like therapy. I love to make art, because it makes me feel so much better and I forget the pain for a while.

Hi Melissa- it has been little over two years since I enjoyed creating with you. I had to quit your course unexpectantly. You were so gracious. Since then I am divorced and a newly breast cancer survivor. I have cont to journal and “play” creatively daily. I would love a chance to win a spot on lifebook. I’ve taken lifebook twice and love it. It’s been a wonderful experience so far in both 2015 – 16!!! There is a whole new lineup of teachers of beautiful and interesting art! I’d love to win a spot to continue on this journey.
i cannot tell you how much life book has meant to me in the past……i have had the luck to have taken the course before. I am disabled and in pain 24/7 even with many medications and life book = life line to me. ART HEALS!! it sure does help take your mind off of the pain. it is truly one of the very best online art courses ever…so many great teachers, awesome styles and techniques, something to look forward to each and every week. Since i am disabled i cant work so my funds are very limited but i am gonna wish, hope, pray, and cross everything that i will be lucky enough to win a spot. thank you so much for the opportunity.

I am in great need of some self care. I am a family therapist and work with children and their families who are healing from trauma. It can get pretty heavy some times and I have found that having a creative outlet is the best the for me. I also encourage clients to use different means of self expression to heal and bring different techniques to share on a regular basis. I have been struggling financially and would love to have the opportunity to join the Life Book class.

Every year I sit and read all the great things that this class will offer along with all the amazing artists that share there knowledge and time. Every year I say to myself I am going to take this class. But early retired, disabled and on fixed income doesn’t leave much spending money. WOW, such a great opportunity. I really, really would love to win a spot since I can’t afford it. I don’t work and earn a salary. I volunteer my time as an art teacher at a local Day Care Centre that looks after disabled young adults. Doing different workshops helps me to imporove myself in order to teach them. It’s a teriffic line-up of artists and one workshop I will be sad to miss out on. Here is to holding tumbs and sending good vibes to everyone!
