After drawing all those boy school kids some days back, the girl school kids kept clamoring for their turn. So last night I started playing around with what they might look like.

In mainstream society, girls have a lot more variation in clothes and hair before they start to get ridiculed or seen as “different.” If I’m drawing a “generic” symbol that’s intended to read as “female school kid,” something like one of these might work.

Obviously, real humans come in a spectrum with infinite variety. But the goal as a graphic facilitator is to capture concepts quickly. My goal here is “school kids,” and I wanted to make them clearly read as female. Goal accomplished, I think.

Looks like these two are off to some kind of hockey practice together—ice or field, I’m not sure! 😊
