15 minutes of doodling is a great way to start the day. Especially when meeting with your CPA at 9am… #doodleart #originalart #abstractart #blackandwhite #pittartistpen #fullcolorlife #livingacreativelife #creativesandbox #makeart #gogetcreating

Saturday morning doodle drawing. My goal this morning was to let go of expectations, while at the same time departing from the patterns I’ve been in. I don’t want to reproduce something I’ve already done, because that’s boring!
I started this piece yesterday with the 7 amorphous shapes inside the larger shape at the top. That’s all I did on it yesterday, because been there, done that… What can I do from here that’s *different*? That was the question I asked, which led me down a new path, toward discovery and delight.
When I’m following my curiosity, I’m in tune with the Universe. This is what creativity is really all about–following curiosity.
It’s not about the outcome, but when I’m able to hear those “what if..” questions and let them be my guide, I often end up really liking the outcome!
Neat how that works. ?

Detail shot of today’s #dailydoodle. Some days the doodle evolves into something that really pleases me. Other days, not so much.
That’s how it goes. The important thing is to just keep at it.
Not everything you create will be a winner. You have to give yourself permission to create crap, though–otherwise you’ll never create a thing.
Permission for your work to be ugly, bad, crappy, etc. takes the pressure off, so you actually START. And the stuff you label as “crap” brought you one step closer to the stuff you will label as “good.” Nobody likes making crap, but you NEED the crap, because that’s what fertilizes the good stuff!! Besides, just because you allow yourself to create crap doesn’t mean you will. It just means you’ll CREATE!
Plus you never know how your work will touch someone else.
That painting you think is crap? It could be exactly what someone else needed to see today.
Your “crap” could be someone else’s treasure, and who’s to say that your opinion that your work is crap is more valid than someone else’s opinion that it’s beautiful?

I’ve still got a migraine–the same one I woke up with. Grrr… What to do? Something to distract me. Doodling fits the bill.
Here’s where trusting the process starts to pay off. I wasn’t thrilled with this piece this morning, but I’m liking it much better now!
Every step is an opportunity for growth and learning, even if I *don’t* like the outcome. Letting go of the outcome allows for movement. When I’m chained to the outcome, I can’t move. Perfectionist paralysis!
Remember, much as we might hate creating crap, we NEED crap, because it’s the crap that fertilizes the good stuff.
And now: a nap, I think. Perhaps my head will feel better afterwards… #crossingfingers
