First Heads Up: More Reasons to Do Your Art
If you’ve followed me for any time at all, hopefully you’ve already been armed with a whole trunk full of reasons for why getting to your creative thing is essential, not self-indulgent or frivolous.
If you want more reasons, though, this article that Laureen shared on Facebook is about as good as it gets.
According to a just-published Mayo Clinic study, regularly engaging in arts and crafts activities may protect your brain from decline in old age.
Go get creating, folks!
Second Heads Up: An Event to Help You Go Pro with Your Art
If there’s one thing I feel strongly about, it’s that when it comes to living a big, bold, creative life, whether or not you make a living from your art makes not one whit of difference.
Doing your creative thing, that’s what matters in the larger scheme of things, not whether you decide to make money from your efforts.
That said, I know a lot of my followers are interested in turning their creative thing into their profession, and if that’s you, I’m the first one cheering you on!
If you’re in that category, you’ll definitely want to check out the Maker Mentors Conference, an online event which runs May 14 – 16th. They’ve got an impressive lineup of speakers (including my former business partner and Creative Insurgents Podcast co-host, Cory Huff, of The Abundant Artist).
And though I’m not a speaker at the event, I am part of the Mentorship Team.

Third Heads Up: An Event to Help You DO Your Art
August may feel like a ways off, but it’s really just around the corner, so if you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to play with me (for five days, no less!), now is the time to reserve your spot at my Create & Incubate Retreat!
August 19-23, 2015.
Uninterrupted time to create. Delicious food. Beautiful surroundings.
Creative Catalyzing sessions with yours truly, to shake the gremlins away. The most loving, generous, warm-hearted people you’ll ever share a room with.
There is nothing like creating in companionable silence together, in a room buzzing with the energy of everyone else also creating at the same time.
Magic.

And Some Comic (Musical) Relief
I just got back on Wednesday from a week in and around Washington, DC, where I went for the first leg of my Living A Creative Life Living Room Tour.
I played in two living rooms while I was there — one in Alexandria, VA, and one in Dunkirk, MD. MM was sweet enough to be my roadie and my videographer, so I’ve got about four hours of unedited footage.
It will take me awhile to edit all that film, but in the meantime, I’ve got this for you. Eight minutes of live looping and improvisation. And laughs.
Enjoy!
(And if you’re interested in having me perform in your own living room, click here.)
PS — Pssst! Know someone who might benefit from seeing this today? Pass it on!

Thanks for the inspiration.

I am SUPREMELY impressed with your looping abilities. I’ve got enough musical understanding to know that is not an easy feat. WELL DONE YOU!!!
