For today’s Monday Morning Doodlecam, I turned to my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils to add a dash of color to yesterday’s doodle.
The *plan* had been to make a new tiny painting, but somebody forgot to prime a new set of canvases with watercolor ground yesterday, because we were so busy clutterbusting and clearing out kitchen cabinets, getting ready for the haulers to come pick up stuff this afternoon and the demo guy to come on Friday.
And now a new monkey wrench: while removing stuff from a cabinet, we discovered black mold on the drywall of kitchen ceiling, beneath the thin particle board at the top of the cabinet!
So now we *also* have a mold remediation company coming out early tomorrow.
Sheesh! Thank goodness I have my art to keep me sane!
Even if I don’t get to do the art I was *planning* on doing, I get to do *something*. That’s the point: it doesn’t matter *what* you do; it matters *that* you do it.
THAT is the Creative Sandbox Way. ?

Sometimes my early morning studio (aka my bed) becomes my late night studio. Like today.
I made the mistake of hopping on the computer to “just do this one thing…” before my Creative Sandbox playtime this morning, and then the day took off with me.
I’m not complaining. My husband and I got a TON done. We’re about to have the kitchen demolished and new cabinets and countertops installed, then I’ll DIY a backsplash, and oh, yeah, let’s have new floors put in while we’re at it (um, yeah, entire downstairs overhaul!) so we are in massive clutter-clearing mode, on a DEADLINE! The haulers come on Monday!
And today we were Tasmanian Devils of clutterbusting!
But hey, what happened to my fifteen minutes of art-making??? Never fear! If it doesn’t happen in the morning, it can happen at night. ? Here’s the little canvas I painted tonight.
It’s just more likely that a monkey wrench won’t get thrown into the works if I do it first thing.
Tomorrow the plan is definitely to do it first thing again. ?
Now I’m off to brush my teeth and get some well-deserved sleep.
