Learning to draw freehand by copying someone else’s drawing. This is a copy of a drawing from portrait-artist.org.
They say copy the masters, and it’s a great way to practice. I find it so much easier to see shapes, angles, values, in someone else’s drawing than in a photo.
It’s also helping me be more minimal in my approach, so I don’t spend an hour on an eye, before getting to the rest of the face!
All of it is practice. All of it is learning. And it’s fun!
