I’m back from a full week in Whistler, BC, Canada, getting trained and certified in LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods, and I am ON FIRE! So excited to start sharing this amazing methodology in workshops on everything from Goal Setting, Team Building, Idea Generation, Values & Behaviors, and Creating a Shared Vision, all the way to Playing with Strategy (think stress-testing your visions for the future—like “war games” for your organization, using LEGO®!) My days were packed from morning til night with so much creativity and play, that I let my daily doodling slide. So it feels great to get back to it!
Remember: the most important practice is just getting back on the wagon, with gentleness and self-compassion. ?
It doesn’t matter if you fall off the wagon! All that matters is that you FORGIVE YOURSELF FOR BEING HUMAN and get right back on!
No “catching up,” either. “I’ll do extra time today for the time I skipped yesterday” is a form of beating yourself up!
Just let it go, and start fresh. You get to do that! You get to treat yourself kindly and gently. Truly, you do!
I know it probably doesn’t come naturally. If you’re like me, you’ve spent years treating yourself like crap, beating yourself up for not being superhuman.
But you get to change that, starting NOW!
It’s a practice. The more you practice treating yourself kindly and gently, the easier it gets and the better it feels.

Exactly one month ago today I had just come home from my 5th annual Create & Incubate Retreat. (Possibly my favorite week of the entire year.)
The other day, at a networking lunch, a potential business partner asked me what people get out of my retreats. I loved this question, because it made me realize that what the sales page for the retreat had been saying, and what the retreat actually does for people, are two really different things.
Not that the sales page was wrong. It said “Spend 5 Days Living Inside a Hug,” and “Incubate Your Next Creative Project Distraction-Free.”
It talked about how at home, despite the best of intentions, the little slings and arrows of daily life just always seem to get in your way.
And how it can be so damn lonely doing your creating all alone all the time.

There was live doodling going on today, while @klotzguest and I talked creativity, business, improv, and more on the #yesandbrandshow.
I shared exactly what was going on inside my head as I doodled this abstract doodle. Demystifying the process so YOU can do it, too!
It’s all about making creativity FUN again. Tapping what’s already there, and always was. You were born creative, you never lost it. Whether you use it for art, business, or solving problems elsewhere in life, creativity is what humans DO!
Doodling is one way to help tap your innate creativity and free it up so you can access it more readily. So is improv. Kathy and I talked about all of this and More.
