Lesson of the day: stop fighting *against* the immovable force; with *with* the immovable force.
Case in point: the watercolor ground (aka absorbent ground) was drying the heck out of my Pigma Micron markers—I was literally going through a marker every one or two tiny painting!
Unsustainable!
First I tried rejuvenating the markers by soaking the tips in mineral spirits/rubbing alcohol, on the advice of someone on my Facebook page. No dice.
So today I decided to work with the reality of the immovable force and try something completely different.
Instead of Pigma Micron markers, how about something that won’t get sucked dry, ever?
Enter the humble pencil.
That’s what I used in today’s Doodlecam, and I must say I am pleased and delighted with the effect. Soft and mysterious, textural, dark enough to create contrast.
Tomorrow I plan to add color—stay tuned.
This is how the creative process works. When something *isn’t* working, you tinker and tweak until it does.
THAT is creativity at work.
And the question, “What would happen if..?” Is the sign of curiosity at play. The birthplace of creativity! “Ask ‘What if..?'” Is Creative Sandbox Way Guidepost #6. Where is that question popping up for you lately?
Always good to notice. ?
