I made this 6″x6″ piece as a demo for a bonus lesson for #lifebook2017. It won’t go live for a couple of months, but I’m editing the video this week.
All about minimalist, improvisational, imperfectionist art. Because not everything has to be AMAZING.
In fact, the imperative to impress is paralyzing. I’ve found it essential to remove that imperative altogether in order to get anything done at all.
Recognize Guidepost #2 of The Creative Sandbox Way? Think process, not product! Only when I fix my attention on JOY and FUN can I let go of perfectionism enough to loosen the paralysis.
That doesn’t mean I’ll like what I create, but it does mean I’ll *create*, and that’s the important thing.
If you take care of the quantity, the quality will take care of itself. And eventually you *will* like what you create, if you allow yourself to look at your work through the eyes of others… Because other people see your work for what it IS, while you see your work for what it ISN’T.
