Happy New Year from Doodlebot! Doodlebot did not set out to draw this particular design, Doodlebot wants you to know! It’s very bizarre! But Doodlebot has a goal of being receptive and open, of saying “yes, and” to the reality of what is presented on the page, and of feeling dauntless, regardless of what gremlins might appear.
So Doodlebot persisted.
And this is Doodlebot’s first offer of the year for you.
Doodlebot hopes you like it, but if you don’t, well, Doodlebot is okay with that, because Doodlebot’s job is NOT to make you happy with the art Doodlebot creates, but rather to make a strong offer and then LET GO of the outcome.
That is every creative’s ultimate responsibility, when you come right down to it.
If you’re creating for a client, then that’s different—your job IS to make them happy. But when you’re creating in the Creative Sandbox, your responsibility is purely to yourself.
Joy. Curiosity. Play. Fun.
Then let go.
Whether anyone likes it is NOT of any consequence. I mean, it’s great if they do, but it’s not the *point.* So stop creating in an attempt to please or impress anybody! (Including you, dare I say…? I mean the product of your creating. Can you try letting go of that for a moment, just as an experiment? Is that even possible?) What would it be like to create without expectation of goodness? Purely for the PROCESS, knowing the product would dissolve at the end of your creating time? How would that change things for you?
Some questions Doodlebot wants you to ponder as we enter a brand new year.
