Wondering what goes on inside Your Big, Bold, Creative Life Academy? How’d you like to be a fly on the wall?
Here’s your chance!
This video is a ten-minute excerpt from an hour+ bonus Q&A call I held last week, where Academy members were invited to ask questions about anything they wanted, get mini-coaching, and/or just hang with me and each other.
At the point on the call where the above video starts, some people posted the following in the text chat:
“I am having a challenge with just accepting that ‘creating’ is enough. How are you handling this?”
“I keep finding excuses why I can’t take time TODAY to take breaks, play an instrument, sing, do yoga, take a walk, garden, do some art…. But tomorrow I’ll say the same thing. :P”
“I feel guilty when I am making art. Like I’m just being a slacker.”
Can you relate?
Odds are you can. When I asked for people on the call to raise their hands if they could relate, a hand went up from virtually everyone in the room.
The video above is my impromptu response to those chat comments.
We live in a world that’s pretty confused about creative expression and its value in our lives. There was a long stretch of my life when I rarely ever gave myself time to create for the joy of it — I call it my “Dark Age.” It’s the reason I’m so passionate now about empowering people to feed their own creative hungers.
I was about to sit down and carefully craft a new article for the blog to address this issue of creating purely for the fun of it being “not enough” — something more elegant and refined than my unscripted thoughts above. I’m sure l’ll still do that at some point, since these questions come up over and over, but in the meantime I thought it would be fun to give you a little peek at my style of interacting on streaming video inside the live classroom we use for the Academy.
Enjoy, and let me know what you would add to the discussion!
PS – Pssst! Know someone who might benefit from seeing this today? Pass it on!
