I keep telling myself I’m going to do a quick line drawing, but I get caught up in the shading.
These sketches still don’t look like the actual subjects, but they look like people, and I’m happy with that for now. ?

Another drawing I’d forgotten about, from 1997.
Seems I drew sporadically for a few months, then just stopped. The gremlins were just too loud back then, and I had no tools for taming them.

The sketchbook I’m using has journal entries and sketches I’d forgotten I’d done, from 1997! This is my beloved cat, Koosh, of blessed memory. She died on MLK Day in 1999, the same year I got divorced.

It’s fascinating, and also painful, getting a peek into what I was thinking and seeing back then. I was not a happy person… Seeing Koosh made me smile though. A smile tinged with longing and sadness. I think losing that cat was harder than losing my marriage.
