Today is the very first Listener Spotlight! I’ve been talking about this for ages, and today I’m delighted to introduce Live Creative Now listener Gretta Lamosa.
Gretta sent me the loveliest email awhile back, in which she wrote:
“I have been listening for about a year now and you have truly given me new reasons to reclaim my soul in art! Thanks again for doing that thing you do so well!”

What’s *your* art? It may not look like “traditional art” at all — maybe it’s gardening or cooking or coding drones to entertain your cat — but if it feeds you and makes you happy, for goodness sake make time for it!

A little color in this morning’s doodle. Following Creative Sandbox Way Guidepost #6: “Ask ‘What if..?'” Because curiosity is the birthplace of creativity.
THAT is what the Creative Sandbox is all about: exploring, experimenting, making messes, and just TRYING STUFF! Because it interests you. Because you’re curious. Because it’s FUN!
Because THAT is what humans DO!
This is why Guidepost #1 is “There is no wrong”: to free us up to try things, regardless of the outcome! Because there’s no way you’re gonna try anything new and crazy and weird if it might get you laughed at or scorned.
This is why setting aside dedicated Creative Sandbox playtime is so important. Even if–maybe ESPECIALLY if–you create all day already.
Creating for clients, or in any setting where there IS a wrong, is a very different situation. It sets up a kind of tension, a tightness, a pressure.
It’s impossible to access your inner 4-year-old in that kind of pressure.
Which is exactly why dedicated Creative Sandbox time is called for. Just for you. No clients or commerce or gremlins allowed. 🙂 Go play!
