See the smudges? That happened while I was live-streaming this video via Doodlecam. Instead of panicking when the first smudge happened, instead of declaring, “This doodle is RUINED!”, I ran with it! I turned the smudges into a feature!

My inner 4-year-old was having a blast! Now the smears were no longer a disastrous mistake, but an experiment to expand upon. Great fun!

I have been so sleepy all day, but I still managed to grab a postcard and do a doodle on the couch. 😊

Bad lighting limited what I could do, but I didn’t let that stop me. I simply let that be a creative constraint! 🖍
I can’t see well enough to fill in lines precisely? So I’ll make messy, imprecise lines!

Do my gremlins approve? Heck no! But I’ve learned to disregard them, because my gremlins NEVER approve! 😂

I simply kept going, because in the Creative Sandbox it’s not about impressing anyone (certainly not my gremlins!!), it’s ONLY about PLAYING! Exploring, experimenting—“Think process, not product” is Creative Sandbox Way™ Guidepost #2, after all, right after #1, “There is no wrong.”

Drawing Doodlebot at the end of a Facebook Live on dealing with self-doubt. Every time I do a doodle (or write, or make music, or [fill in the blank] my self-doubt gremlins tell me I’m not good enough. Without fail.

Thankfully, I’ve learned how to deal with them over the years, so for the most part they don’t stop me anymore. (Huge thanks to @tarasophiamohr, whose Playing Big course was transformative in this regard, and so many other regards, too!)

In today’s Doodlecam (as with every Doodlecam), I talk through how I deal with the self-doubt gremlins when they appear, and reappear, as they inevitably do.

Learning to dance with these gremlins is essential. They’re not going away, folks! So unless you want to live in a state of paralysis, never achieving anything, you are going to have to learn to deal with them!
