I didn’t doodle the past four days, because I was in an intensive improv workshop–all day long each day. That was my Creative Sandbox playtime–building imaginary worlds onstage with my scene partners.
This morning, while back at my morning doodle practice, it occurred to me that I’m doing the same thing on my own with pen and paper: building imaginary worlds.

Morning doodle while listening to a podcast — Gallup Theme Thursday. All about Achiever, my #2. “Whisper of discontent.” That’s a pretty accurate nutshell statement, actually!
We have lots of energy and get stuff done, but it’s a double-edged sword, this Achiever strength… At least I’ve figured out how to give myself time in the mornings for Creative Sandboxing. ? I know it makes me more happy and productive in the long run, otherwise my Achiever probably wouldn’t let me—LOL!

Last week I shared a story from my sad week at Jazz Camp West.
Part of that story involved my intense feelings of shame and embarrassment when I screwed up a performance.
We’ve all had an experience like that. Even if you’ve never performed onstage, if you’re a creator, you’ve certainly created something that didn’t come out the way you wanted. That’s a guarantee.
And that feeling is the worst, right?
And the bigger the project, the more expectations you load on the outcome, the worse the feeling.
